Becoming, Creating, Resisting

  • Camp Gow 5982-, 6006 State Hwy Walton, Waharoa 3474 New Zealand (map)

A 4 day camp bringing together people from activist, artististic and spiritual backgrounds, to explore how we can create visionary, radical and compassionate responses to contemporary issues. In their own ways, these different approaches aim to improve and make meaningful the world as it unravels. We will be Bringing them together to have the opportunity to develop praxis for social engagement that is effective from personal depth through to political and systemic change.

We will all be part of a shared, mutually supportive process of being open, reflective, responsive and uncomfortable as we feel our way through this. Rather than planning a fixed outcome, we hope that the weekend can be guided by questioning, so we might find new and unexpected possibilities.

Our intentions for the camp are in the direction of the following questions:

  • How do we make space for feeling, and embodying amongst our acting/doing?

  • How do we change oppressive, destructive systems of power while embodying what we want in the world?

  • What guides and shapes our visions for the future?

  • How do we care of ourselves and others needs whilst staying socially engaged?

  • How can we take on new perspectives, greater understanding, and respect for different approaches?

  • How do we better collaborate, support and learn from each other?

The structure will include:

  • Establishing and maintaining a safe space

  • ‘Open Space’ so we can learn from the experience of the group

  • Workshops, group discussions and creative explorations

  • Space for heart sharing and personal process

  • Affirmation of our own unique contributions to the revolution

  • Opportunity for emergent themes to be worked with
